Frequently Asked Questions

First Responder Inspector US Training

Is this course recognized in my province or state?

The FireWise First Responder Inspector Training program aligns with the 2024 NFPA 1030 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Prevention Program Positions.

Because each jurisdiction has unique requirements, we recommend confirming with your local authority or certification body before registering to ensure it meets your specific recognition needs.

Am I still certified as a First Responder Inspector without the Pro Board® accredited evaluation?

Taking our course provides you with the education and training aligned with the NFPA 1030 Standard for Professional Qualifications for First Responder Fire Inspector (2024 Edition). Completing the course means you’ve been taught the knowledge and skills expected of a First Responder Fire Inspector and that you’ve met the learning outcomes based on national codes and standards.

However, without writing and passing the Pro Board® accredited certification exam, you would not hold formal certification as a First Responder Fire Inspector. Certification is often required by employers, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), or regulatory bodies as proof of your qualifications.

If you're taking the course for personal development, to support your current role, or to prepare for future certification, it's still a strong step forward.

All instructions and support are provided by FireWise to make this process seamless.

Do I need prior experience to enroll?

No prior experience is required. This course is designed for anyone looking to gain foundational knowledge in fire inspection, whether you’re new to prevention, transitioning from suppression, or seeking advancement into inspection or building safety roles.

How do I apply for Pro Board® Accredited Certification?

Once you’ve successfully completed the online knowledge-based portion, our team will guide you through the next steps. You’ll be connected with your College of the Rockies facilitator to arrange your final evaluation for Pro Board® accredited certification.

All instructions and support are provided by FireWise to make this process seamless.

Can departments register multiple students at once?

Absolutely. FireWise supports group and departmental registrations for fire services, municipalities, and organizations.

We also provide administrative reporting options so training coordinators can monitor student progress and completion.
